Job Description:
Candidates with a masters degree in urban planning, real estate, land development, or similar degree plus 1-3 years relevant experience required to apply. Several years of relevant experience may substitute for advanced degree. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
Primary responsibilities will include (1) demographic and economic research and (2) real estate market research, analysis and evaluation. Supporting responsibilities include: data gathering from secondary sources; primary research including surveys, interviews, focus groups, and field work; interpreting research results and evaluating real estate and development opportunities and challenges; writing reports, preparing and giving in-person presentations.
Assignments may include market analysis for a variety of segments of private sector land uses (residential and/or commercial) and public policy / economic development analysis and strategies. Clients include both private sector developers and investors and public / civic sector entities. Assignments are primarily within Texas but have occurred throughout the U.S. and Canada, and may be in urban, suburban, or exurban / small town locations.
Beneficial skills include: familiarity with researching and analyzing demographic and economic data sources; practice with obtaining, tabulating and communicating real estate market data; basic knowledge of real estate decision-making processes and analysis; familiarity with major real estate and urban development trends; knowledge of public policies related to urban planning, development regulation, and public facility investment; geographic information systems (GIS); written data presentation and discussion; strong writing, document layout, and presentation skills. Candidates motivated by interest in market forces shaping urban development especially sought.
Salary range $42,000 - $58,000 - depending on level of education and experience.
